TASK ONE

Each contestant was randomly assigned a unique colour which they must incorporate in a graphic of their choice. A significant level of freedom was given in the first task in an effort to test the creativity of the contestants.

Top photo went to Pablo.

The runner up was Filip.

Unfortunately, after unsolved issues, Marycha was eliminated.

TASK TWO

In the interest of client requests, our contestants were asked to include a specific top in a graphic of their choosing. The outcome was, for the most part, impressive and really showed how well some of the designers could adapt.

Top photo went once again to Pablo, making this his second win in a row.

The runner up was Helen.

Due to a complete absence, Natalie was eliminated.

TASK THREE

The contestants were challenged to capture the essence and attitude of an assigned celebrity in a striking graphic. The entries for this task were varied in taste and style and really set the lions from the cubs.

Prior to this task, Virginia had to resign from the competition due to personal reasons.

Top photo went to Filip, breaking the chain formed by previous results.

The runner up was Pablo.

From the lack of effort and technique in their graphic, Gabriel failed to meet the standards of the competition and was eliminated.

TASK FOUR

The same reference image was given to each of our contestants, they simply had to create the image as a graphic. The point of the task was to see how well each contestant had developed their own style in technique.

Top photo went to Filip, making it his second in a row, now tying with Pablo.

The runner up was Helen.

The judges were not seeing enough progression in Giselle, which landed her at the bottom of the pack and concluded in her being eliminated.

TASK 5

Breaking into the top five meant the tasks were now becoming more complex; this week our contestants were asked to design a banner for the legendary blog Haus of X. Not only did each of them have to create a graphic with two models, but also deliver a layout with text to match the theme of Haus of X while still possessing some of their own unique flare. The grueling demand of this task was just an insight to how hard the final run will be.

Top photo went to Beth, rocketing her all the way from the bottom two right to the top in just one week!

The runner up was Rozalia.

Helen and Filip both landed themselves in the bottom two, each with lackluster entries and mediocre track records - in a shocking twist, both of the contestants were eliminated, catapulting the competition into the penultimate stage.

TASK 6

Now with only three left standing, this next task was incredibly demanding; each contestant had to produce three graphics, (headshot, midshot, + bodyshot) forming a lookbook following a style and concept of their choice.

Top photo went to Pablo, regaining his lead once again.

There was no runner up considering this was the final 3.

Rozalia and Beth found themselves in the bottom two, and unfortunately due to her lack of edge, Beth was sent home.

In yet another twist, Filip was voted back into the competition thanks to the readers giving him 60% of the vote in the unexpected comeback poll.

TASK 7

For the penultimate task of our first cycle, the contestants were challenged to create a graphic embodying the style and essence of Betsey Johnson, using both their own and my doll. The main focus of this task was to execute and a fun and kitschy graphic with a real Betsey vibe.

Due to unexplained complications, Filip chose to resign from the competition, forfeiting his chance to return for the last lap.

There was no top photo considering only two contestants remained.

Both Rozalia and Pablo delivered strong entries and matched the criteria perfectly in their own unique ways.

TASK 8

In a gripping finale, our final two battled it out in a fashion extravaganza challenge; creating both a powerful runway look, alongside a backstage beauty shot. This was their final chance to impress the judges and prove why they should be Ultimate Designer of Cycle 1.

From his impeccable dedication and talent shown throughout the cycle, and of course, a breathtaking final entry, Pablo was declared the winner of Cycle 1!

Rozalia was titled the runner up of Cycle 1 and certainly earned her spot at the top, delivering strong and consistent entries right up until the end.

Congratulations to all the contestants of Cycle 1, your efforts and capability soared expectations! Many of our Cycle 1 contestants have gone on to gain a successful reputation in the industry, which proves that each and every one of them has undeniable, raw talent.
